The world famous London School of Economics are undertaking a major redevelopment of their Holborn Campus in the heart of the capital. This redevelopment involved the demolition of numerous buildings to enable the construction of the new facilities. This was undertaken whilst the campus was still open and in use.
The noise generated by the demolition works would have caused an unacceptable disturbance to buildings which were adjoining the redevelopment. Working with the demolition contractors for the project, AGS Noise Control were first commissioned to undertake an acoustic survey of the proposed works which included assessment of the demolition works noise and computer modelling of the site to determine the required mitigation measures to ensure the client’s requirements were achieved.
AGS proposes the installation of a temporary acoustic screen, constructed using our modular acoustic panel system supported off a scaffold structure. The screen, measuring approximately 100m long X up to 20m high was subsequently constructed by AGS Noise Control using our directly employed site installation engineers. Ongoing noise monitoring of the site confirmed the installation achieved the required noise reduction at the relevant building facades.
