Acoustic Enclosures | Industrial & Plant Noise Reduction
Acoustic enclosures
AGS Noise Control Ltd have many years’ experience in the design, manufacture and installation of acoustic enclosures for a wide variety of industries and applications.
Typical Industries we work with include;
- Industrial- Noise reduction to industrial plant and machinery...
- Environmental - ASHP, WSHP...
- Commercial - Generators, AC units, FCU...
Machinery/equipment we typically build around include:
- ASHP & WSHP
- Fan coil units & AHUs
- CNC Routing Machines & turret punches
- Fans or Blowers
- Compressors & CHP plant
- Coolers & Condensers
- Engines e.g. gas / diesel generator sets Hydraulic Packs
- Granulators and Shredders
- Vacuum Pumps
- Saws
- Specialist Test Facilities (HV Transformers Test Cell, Dyno test rigs)
Industrial machinery
One of the main applications we see is the use of one or multiple acoustic enclosures in an industrial environment to mitigate noise. For example, some common examples are noise enclosures around turret punches (Omada etc), CNC machines, granulators & shredders at recycling facilities and large/fast moving machinery.
Whether it is working to reduce noise levels to below the threshold in an area of the factory allowing employees to pass without needing hearing protection, achieving Noise at Work requirements or to mitigate noise breakout to residential properties and conform to the environmental standards, AGS can assist. This can often go hand in hand with other noise control measures such as industrial partitions/noise screens.
A lot of our internal soundproof enclosures will be formed to include acoustic glazing for vision into the space, whether to identify fire risks, visible checks on operators or to take measurements from certain panels on the machinery.
Noisy HVAC equipment
Typically AGS find that, in particularly the summer months because a lot of people are outside or open their windows due to the high temperature, a lot of 'loud' air conditioning, fan coil units, blowers, heat pumps etc became more noticeable.
Often this plant noise if above the required noise levels can be mitigated with an appropriate barrier or enclosure. In this case an acoustic enclosure will reduce noise breakout as well as reduce the reverberation time within the soundproof enclosure because the interior face of AGS' panels is perforated, to give 'Class A absorption rating'.
We can follow best practice using all our years of experience however our preference is to work hand in hand with an acoustic consultant to ensure that our mitigation falls in line with a BS4142 Environmental Assessment. Not only does this ensure that we are installing the correct solution that'll work but also as proof that as a client you are conforming with the UK noise regulations.
Infrastructure projects
A number of our large projects include transformer bank enclosures where noise generated by these kits would otherwise exceed the noise levels. As for almost all our enclosures these will include high Rw doorsets for access and maintenance and thanks to our skilled site installation engineers, pipework penetrations into the enclosure do not compromise the structural or acoustic integrity of the enclosure through the use of 'split plates'.
Custom Acoustic Enclosures
With construction from material designed for noise reduction and dampening, based on the 'sandwich principle' formed from a core of transverse mineral wool and surface layers of sheet steel. With panels able to be hand cut on site the versatility of the panels is extreme.
We understand each project is different with different requirements and difficulties. Therefore each acoustic enclosure we design and build is bespoke and is designed to suit the specific requirements of the project.
Fire Rated Acoustic Enclosures
AGS can provide a fire rated option if required such as those sometimes required at hospitals or education centres. These can be complete with fire-rated acoustic doors and trims. For this specific specialist requirement contact our team directly. Get in touch with us for any enquiries with the largest manufacturers of acoustic enclosures in the UK.
Weatherproof Acoustic Enclosure
For external acoustic enclosures sometimes it is vital that the construction is weatherproof to protect the internal machinery and integrity of the structure. AGS Noise Control have the resources to provide a weatherproof rubber membrane skin applied to the roof of the enclosure.
Considerations
In addition, specific consideration would be given to the following:
Required levels of noise reduction
The reason an acoustic enclosure would be required!
Ventilation requirements
To provide sufficient air movement for process or machine cooling requirements whilst maintaining the required level of noise reduction. This can often involve acoustic louvres with metal blades which provide sufficient airflow whilst blocking noise from travelling out a direct line.
Materials Movements
It is important that equipment such as presses, routers, punches, saws etc is not impeding the raw material inputs and finished product outputs of the machine as this would obviously reduce the production capacity of the equipment. As a result this often requires careful consideration and experience to achieve the optimum solution.
Maintenance Access
Acoustic doors, removable panels or access hatches can be included to enable routine or out of the ordinary access for maintenance access to the equipment. Furthermore, overhead lifting beams can be included within the acoustic enclosure design to aid major component removal. Some projects even include demountable roofs further demonstrating AGS's versatility.
Project Management
In addition to the design, manufacture and installation of acoustic enclosures we can also offer a full project management service including the supply of the some of the following additional items:
- Design, manufacture and installation of overhead lifting beams;
- Supply and installation of fire suppression systems;
- Dust and / or fume extraction equipment;
- Supply and installation of safety interlocks;
- Resin floors;
- Electrical installations;
- External weather cladding and gutters;
- Ventilation equipment;
- Structural steelwork including mezzanine structures, stairs, hand and knee rails etc.
