Rooftop Acoustic Screen – Durham

AGS Noise Control undertook a project involving a rooftop acoustic screen near Durham, intended to mitigate environmental noise emissions from plant.

Rooftop acoustic screens

Rooftop acoustic barriers are vital across the UK especially in built up places like London and Manchester where population density is high and unmitigated plant can have adverse impacts on the baseline environment. AGS’ experience allows them to provide these technical solutions, whether you just need weatherproof acoustic panels supplied for a rooftop screen project or full design, supply and installation, give our team a shout.

We also offer rooftop acoustic louvre screens for projects where ventilation requirements dictate that an imperforate screen does not allow sufficient fresh airflow to equipment. This can lead to plant overheating, sub-optimal performance or increased energy costs.

Construction

The screen was a single elevation according to an independent Acoustic Report, measuring approx. 14 metres x 3.3 metres high.

Typically, AGS supply 50mm or 100mm steel acoustic panels, however their offering for 80mm provides an attractive option when the acoustic performance falls between the values achieved by the two typical thickness. AGS can provide panels of up to 70Rw, courtesy of a double panel construction making even the highest acoustic requirements achievable.

For this specific project the 80mm panels, supplied by a long-standing partner of AGS Noise Control, Isolamin, are only available in the UK via AGS Noise Control so get in touch today.

The top and sides of the screen were complete with channels and screws providing a clean finish as well as weatherproofing the final product.

Installation

AGS installed the rooftop acoustic screen, as well as subcontracting out crane lifting for delivery of material to the work area.

Installing barriers on a roof is a great example where installation best practice must be enforced. All our rooftop installations include suitable scaffolding, edge protection and site walks to identify possible hazards. Where required AGS’ employees always wear harnesses ensuring no harm comes to themselves or others around them. If you want peace of mind that your rooftop acoustic project will be delivered professionally and to the highest standard, get in touch today.
